Migraine surgery is a procedure which is performed under the skin.
Since the surgery is performed via a (closed) endoscopic technic used with a camera with small incisions done from the scalp, no trace persists.

Migraine surgery is a procedure based on the decompression (freeing-relief) of the triggering cranial nerves. For this moment, there are defined four main nerve regions. In addition to those, four minor initiating nerve areas have been defined.
Main Migraine Regions; Forehead, Temporal, Nose, Nape of the neck.
Minor Migraine Regions; Auriculotemporal, small occipital, sub-branch of the forehead.
Migraine surgery is based on eliminating the compression on the branches of the trigeminal nerves. In many patient, the interaction between corrugator muscle and trigeminal nerve leads to migraine pain.
Corrugator muscle is a muscle which is located on the brows and which ensures basically “frowning” and other reaction signs. Migraine pain takes place due to the compression of this muscle on the branches of the trigeminal nerve
In surgical procedure, the nerve is relaxed by taking these muscles via a small incision done on the eyebrow. It may be also referred as a nerve compression surgery. Hence, the triggering of the migraine pain is terminated and the patient is freed of the migraine pain.
The same method is followed also for the migraine pain in the temporal region. Only the nerve in this region is completely taken. The nerve is relaxed by removing some portion of the muscles causing the compression of the nerve in the neck region.
The surgical treatment of migraine in Ekol Hospital
Migraine which is one of the commonly encountered disorders all around the world affects twenty two percent (22%) of females in Turkey and eleven percent (11%) of the males in Turkey.
The diagnosis of migraine should be established by a neurologist. No trace persists following the migraine surgery. The patient can return to his or her daily life and to his or her job in a short span of time. Nine of every ten patients benefit from this surgery.
Following the surgery, the pains originating from the migraine regress until the four weeks in the patients who are discharged from the hospital on the same day. The patient can return to his or her normal life in a short span of time. Since the surgery traces are hidden in the scalp they are not seen outside.
